The kids did fantastic yesterday... they all got 2's. For those of you not in the band world... its a sliding scale rating system. 1 is perfect (and very hard to get) and 5 is the worst (you get that just for showing up basically). They were pretty stoked and loud when it was all done LOL!
I had about 5 of the kids come back to my house to work on their diaper cake. So I printed out a pic of the last one I did and let them go to town. They did really good on it. They put curly's on it and made it real cute for the Asst. band director and his wife.
Didn't they do a great job? It took them awhile but they got the hang of it and were so proud of themselves. I had to laugh at my DD though. She has watched me make a ton of these cakes right? Well yesterday, she sounded like a drill sgt. LOL! "You're not doing that right", "That's not how mom does it", "OMG I just showed you that" LOL! OMG I about wet myself lmao then I had to step in and chill her out before she got "voted off the island" LMAO!
Ok, so once the fiasco of the diaper cake was over, my DD made a couple of sweet boxes to give to her BFF and another friend on V-day.
The other kids thought they were cool and wanted to make some, so they ran to Hobby Lobby and picked up a few boxes to do for themselves to give as gifts.
I, on the other hand, was working on scrapbooking all day. I got 16 pages completed and 9 partially done. You can see the cover page of my son's book and a couple of band ones I started for Madison in this shot.
As many of you know, today is the Super Bowl... Colts vs. Saints. We have a LOT of people coming over today, so I doubt I am gonna get any more crafts done this weekend... but I'm gonna try! As for food... well I was smart and made the fruit bowl and the pie tartlets yesterday evening... check them out!
This is the fruit bowl/platter... fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, and honeydew. It's cute and a sneaky way to ensure they are not just eating junk all day!
Here is a plate of Key Lime Pie tartlets. I made 3 pans of these as they go fast!
These are the Lemon Creme tartlets. There never seems to be any left of either kind, so I am hoping that 3 pans of each will leave at least a few to savor later! LOL... I know... wishful thinking.
As for the rest of the food? Finger foods, appetizers, and easy pots of leave me alone all day LOL! Dips, chips, and everything is set out so get it yourself day LMAO! Making everything from chicken wings to kabobs, to shrimp, to potato skins, to anything else you can imagine. You can go through my blog and find tons of appetizer recipes and ideas. Well I'm making most of them LOL! So I better get to work. I love you all and I will see you here tomorrow! HUGS!
