INSENTIVITY CHAPS MY HIDE

Well good morning there my little chickadees! How are you doing today? I still feel pretty run down, but I have discovered a good medicine to help for this crud. And believe it or not, I found it at the Dollar Tree! No more $10+ boxes of Name brand things that don’t work! But right now, I got a little problem…

Ok I gotta vent on something here. How many of you watch The View? Well if you do, you know who Elisabeth Hasselbeck is, right? I can’t stand that spoiled rotten, snotty, stuck up female dog! She talked about DWTS celebrity Erin Andrews, who I happen to like. BUT it hit me wrong cause, well lets just say crimes like stalking and assault make me very “spirited” Check out this article.

Tearful Elisabeth Hasselbeck Apologizes to Erin Andrews
By Mike Ryan | Wednesday, May 5, 2010, 2:55 PM

Elisabeth Hasselbeck can be a polarizing personality, to put it mildly. Attacking public political figures is one thing. Attacking one of America's favorite sports reporters, Erin Andrews — who was recently the victim in a very public criminal stalking case — crossed the line with a lot of viewers. Hasselbeck now regrets this decision.

Tuesday, on Hasselbeck's show "The View," she questioned Andrews' choice of attire for her "Dancing With the Stars" appearance.

She even suggested that an outfit like the one Andrews was wearing could possibly have put Andrews in a situation like the one with her convicted stalker Michael Barrett, who is currently serving two and a half years in prison.

On Wednesday's show, a noticeably distraught Hasselbeck publicly apologized to Andrews for her insensitive remarks. Hasselbeck seemed completely sincere in her remorse — as opposed to being coerced by ABC, the network that employs both of them. She said she had already privately apologized to Andrews as well.

Hasselbeck, as part of her apology, referenced a conversation she had with her daughter the night before. "Mommy hurt someone's feelings," Hasselbeck told her daughter.

Later, she told the crowd, "I ended up hurting [Andrews]," as she fought to hold back tears. Hasselbeck's daughter had some words for her mother, which Hasselbeck relayed to much laughter in the audience: "Mommy, why don't you just call Erin and tell her you're sorry?" Hasselbeck took her daughter's advice.

Erin Andrews professed to "Access Hollywood" that she cried upon hearing Hasselbeck's original comments. She went on to say that Hasselbeck's comments were "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators."

(This article included a video of her “public apology” that you can watch HERE.) Now… ARE YOU SERIOUS? This feeble minded bimbo wants to say that someones OUTFIT gives people a reason to rape and torment other people?? OMG I so just went outside and screamed! I feel sorry for her children really. I mean some could question some of her wardrobe choices in the past as well. LET ME TELL YOU HASSELBITCH… AN OUTFIT DOESN’T GIVE ANYONE THE RIGHT TO VOILATE YOU IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!!!!!! And you should be thoroughly ASHAMED of yourself for that comment! I hope those children grow to be better persons than she is! And I don’t think Erin Andrews sould accept her apology at all! Good for Erin in what she said in reply... I think Hasselhoe should have to go to battered women’s shelters and women’s crisis centers and see what these poor souls have gone through. Its easy to be judgmental when you are a famous rich idiot who has no connection to REAL F’IN LIFE!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHH That makes me so furious!!! Ok, gotta change the topic now (thanks for listening to my vent!) as I haven’t taken my BP meds yet and I don’t wanna stroke out on you LOL!

Ok, well I have been trying to arise the craft bug to come and bite me, but I think its hibernating this week. I have so much I want to do but I have absolutely no ambition to do anything! It kinda stinks! However, I know that my readers love the crafts, so I try to keep giving you new ideas each day. Today I am bringing you something you can do to enhance your beach themed bathroom or any room. Its very beautiful.

Craft Idea of the Day: Shell Mirror

I previously replied to a request of what to do with excess shells. I explained how I decorated wooden or chipboard (MDF in Australia) mirror or picture frames with shells.

I recently made one for a friend who celebrated her 40th birthday on the weekend. She was delighted with it so I thought I'd share the picture I took and how I made it.

Firstly, clean the frame with a dry cloth to get rid of any dust and grime. I chose acrylic paints in tubes and used a bristle brush in a circular and criss-cross fashion to give it a suede look. In this particular instance I chose a bright yellow with cream overtones to make it less bright.

I painted both the front, back and the backing piece to the mirror.

While the paint was drying I went onto the computer using the Word Art tool.. For the uninitiated, you go to the Insert tab, then scroll down to picture, and across to a menu, until you find Word Art. It will let you type in whatever you want and give you options for colors and the shapes of the text you want. What it does is that your text will go in waves or whatever shape you have chosen. It can give your text a nice touch.

I then cut out the text and also cut enough gold braid to go around the cut out paper. That way it defined the text and showed me where the shells should stop. I then spread PVC glue (wood glue) thickly onto the frame in sections and placed the shells (big and large) in a haphazard way. If you become too regimented about symmetry, it can look too contrived. On the top where I placed the text and trim, I found a nice small colorful starfish to cover the join in the gold trim. It covered it up nicely.

Before the glue dries, sprinkle gold and silver glitter (not too large grade) in amongst the shells and in between where the smaller shells are. In between the bigger shells I had placed minute tiny shells to take up the spaces in between the larger shells. I found a zip lock back of tiny mother of pearl colored tiny shells. Ideal for filling in spaces and giving added color. If you have larger shells that may look a little boring, don't be discouraged. I found I needed some fan shells, but the ones I had were old and had lost their color. I grabbed my youngests pencil case and used some of her pencils to add a bit of color. As you ended up spraying the whole piece anyway, the color won't fade.

Once the glue has dried clear and hard, spray with a clear matte or shiny spray varnish (lacquer) to seal everything. The glitter will fall off if not sealed properly.

You don't have to have a message or text up top of the mirror, that's just what I chose for this particular frame. I included a scripture verse about God throwing our sins into the depths of the ocean, which I thought was really appropriate since I was using shells- and added a note to the verse which said, "And that means absolutely no fishing!"

There you have it, a really inexpensive present which ended up looking like a million dollars and great fun making it. My 14 year old daughter and I had so much fun making this present and it gave us some time together. You can even get your littlies in on the action, placing a shell here and there and it makes them feel special as well because they're able to help out.

Enjoy!

Well it’s time to eat my dears! I love lots of different types of cuisines, as you know. Well today I have a Korean dish you gotta try! It's delicious! Even better if rolled up in red leaf lettuce with rice and hot pepper paste. If you want to spice it up just add red pepper powder to your marinade. You can purchase the hot pepper paste and red pepper powder at your local oriental market. So if you have a spicy life, this spicy dinner could give you a big bang!

Beef Bulgogi

Ingredients

1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
5 tablespoons soy sauce
2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup chopped green onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

Place the beef in a shallow dish. Combine soy sauce, sugar, green onion, garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, and ground black pepper in a small bowl. Pour over beef. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil the grate.

Quickly grill beef on hot grill until slightly charred and cooked through, 1 to 2 minutes per side.

Ok gang, its that time again… time to get dressed for work and head out the door. I hope you all have a great day and I wish you the best in wherever your journey takes you! Peace, Love, and lots of HUGS!

  1. The shell mirror is pretty. There are lots of crafts you could do with shells, and the shells are pretty cheap in hobby stores. If you have extra shells you can make a decorated seaside door wreath, or you can use some shells with other types of seashore items (you can pick up all types of things in hobby stores) and make a shadowbox frame picture, the possibilities are endless! That recipes looks good and it looks like you could use chicken instead of the beef too. OK. Feeling pretty good today so I think I am gonna grab my walker and truck on around the house for awahile. LOL Well, maybe at a snails pace. Til next time......

  2. Its me again. Where is everybody? I like seeing all of your comments. It makes me feel like there are other people interested in being frugal (some call it cheap). If alot of us start reinventing the way things are done in America, maybe the county leaders will take notice! Recycling, reusing, coupons, sales, discount stores, bartering, back to basics cooking/less fast food, and being frugal with the way you live. It will surprize you what results you get. Til next time.....

  3. Hey Renee, I wanted to comment really quick on Ms. Hasselback and her comments...No, your right, what she said was wrong. She probably shouldn't have said it and it was not from a place that people should spend much time...but and here's where I think the important part of the story is...she apologized. I mean she picked of the phone called Ms. Andrews, said "I'm a goober, I shouldn't have said it, I did and I'm sorry." and then went on to let the rest of us know that she was publically sorry for a public statement. I just wanted to mention that becuase instead of looking at the ugly side of the picture, I thought I'd give you a different perspective.

Someone told me once, "God only gives you so much anger. And you need to think about, if that's a gift from God, is that where and how you want to use it?"

I don't know, you sounded so upset when I read this and I felt really bad for you...and I just wanted to mention that she did what so many people don't do and that was say, "I'm sorry, I was wrong." Now it's up to us.

  4. Welcome home Frugal Mom's MOM! I've been away a few days so I spent this afternoon catching up. I've been clicking for the baby animals for you everyday.

I agree with Renee, maybe not as spiritedly but still I agree. Hasselbeck was totally wrong in what she said and she needed to apologize. I don't particulary like Hasselbeck either and wouldn't be heartbroken if she was replaced!

And I wanted to let you know that I used coupons and saved almost $50 on groceries today and I made a milk jug bird feeder, so I have began my quest for major frugalness! I am very proud.

Keep up the good work Renee. We will not all agree with each other all the time, but you give us a safe place to discuss it no matter what are views. You Rock!

  5. E Hasselbeck was wrong, she tried to make light of her comment like it was a joke. She made even lighter of her so-called apology. Since when did apologizes become self-centered and without the words 'I'm sorry'?
